交換過程分為交換協議階段和標的轉移階段。標的包含商品、服務、勞務、技術、信息等。交換協議是雙方對立主體對標的達成一個彼此能夠接受和認同的所謂等價的值。標的所有權的轉移是以對價的同步互動為條件，所以交換是在動態過程中實現的。
