外貿業務員的工作內容是：

1、業務人員在國外采購商的詢價，做出產品報價前，應了解客戶基本信息，包括是否終端客戶、年采購能力、消費區域，以及產品的用途、規格及質量要求，公司是否能夠生產等。

這項工作，隨著外貿管理軟件的研發應用，信息化工具的不斷完善，已經能夠自動化統計顯示。外貿管理軟件中，都具備這樣的功能。

2、對于外商的郵件、傳真，原則上在24小時內答復；特殊情況需要延期的，應及時向外商解釋及大概需要的時間。外貿業務員工作繁雜，詢盤郵件眾多，難免有遺忘的時候。

但是隨著外貿管理軟件功能不斷完善，系統能自動提醒業務人員：哪些郵件未回復，哪些郵件已經多時未跟蹤，這很好地起到了一個提示的作用。
