1、Repetition（重復性）：英文學習初期，沒有什么比一再重復的話語，更容易達到學習效果了。幼教專家曾指出，孩子在接觸新事物時，總是希望有機會不斷重復，好讓他能對陌生內容逐漸熟悉，直到完全掌握而感到安心。英文初級故事里特別設計的重復句，是作者將重要訊息安排成容易吸收的形式，讓孩子們可以練習自行閱讀，以增加對英語的自信心與成就感。所以，某些字句會反復出現。但在規則的問句中，優秀的兒童文學作者也會穿插有彈性變化的應答，讓故事不致因一再重復而乏味無趣。

2、好的兒童繪本幾乎都有一個特色：圖文合一，孩子光看插畫，就能“猜”故事。孩子透過不斷嘗試猜測所獲得的“推理能力”，更是一大寶藏。

3、在親子共讀過程中，孩子總會不斷追問“這是什么？”“然后呢？”“為什么？怎么會這樣？”這個時候，孩子展現的正式與生俱來的好奇心。但是，請大人們暫且“hold”住，不要急著給答案。我的方法是：別等孩子發文，換成自己主動出擊。問問題時，我會避免只使用“對”、“不是”等就能打發的簡答題，而盡量多使用“開放式問題”詢問，讓孩子有機會發表各種不同答案。例如，5W 1H（who、what、when、where、why and how）就是很棒的問句。以“角色、事件、事件、場景、動機和手法為出發點，誘導孩子動腦筋，把散布在繪本里的線索連接、聯想，最后組織出合情合理的想法。

4、讀英語故事的黃金時刻，一是早晨起床后，而是夜晚上床前。涉及并執行自己的有聲書《播放記錄單》，原則上每本書播放以一周為限，下周則換不同的有聲書，一段時間后會重復過去曾聽過的內容。

5、傳統的英語教學，總是講解的巨細靡遺，于是孩子依賴固定的中文翻譯，堅持背完單詞與文法才肯放心閱讀文章，但這卻剝奪了孩子自己去注意、判斷和理解的機會。一旦遇到學校沒有教的句型、沒有背過的單詞就無法繼續閱讀，理解力更是大打折扣。依賴中文翻譯，等于沒有辦法獨立閱讀，而缺乏自我猜測、推理的閱讀習慣，英文能力其實是非常薄弱且受限的。所以，不要選擇中英文對照的圖書。

6、語言學大師Noam Chomsky（麻省理工學院教授）主張，人類大腦里有個“語言器官”，讓人類不需要系統學習就能學會說話。這是因為啟動開口說話的關鍵，是“聽到語言的真實聲音”，而不是辨識文字符號。因此，在學習英語初期，孩子的角色是“聽眾”，父母的任務是“提供質量并重的英語輸入”，讓孩子習慣英語的豐富聲音。
