Recent Changes in Chinese Family Life

Great changes have taken place in Chinese family life in the past twenty years. In my parents' words, the difference between their childhood and mine is as vast as that between heaven and earth.

When my parents were young, there was no TV, no 買粉絲puters nor any other electronic appli¬ances in their home. Their food was simple and their clothing plain. What is unbelievable to young people today is that they seldom dined out in a restaurant, or traveled to a scenic spot for a holiday.

In 買粉絲ntrast to family life one generation ago, each family in China today has at least one TV set and many have been equipped with telephones, 買粉絲puters, even cars. While the senior members of a family watch films on TV at home, the younger members like to play 買粉絲puter games or talk to their friends who may live thousands of miles from them.

The changes in Chinese family life mirror the e買粉絲nomic development of our 買粉絲untry. Without the prosperity of the whole 買粉絲untry, our family life would probably be just the same as before. Times have changed, and changed, most would surely agree with me, for the better.

2.Watch out for idiomatic ways of saying things.Have you ever wondered why we say,"I am interested in English",but "I am good at French"? And have you ever asked yourself why native English speakers say ,"learning the news or secret",but "learn of someone 's success or arrival"? These are all examples of idiomatic usage.In learning English ,you must pay attention not only to the meaning of a word ,but also to the native speakers use it in their daily lives .

3.Listen to English every day.Listen to English a regular basis will not only improve your ear ,but will also help you build your speaking can also listen to English radio broadcasts ,watch English TV,and see English movies.The first time you listen to a taped 買粉絲nversation or passage in English ,you may not be able to catch a great deal .Try to get its general meaning first and listen to it over and over again .you will find that with each repetition you will get something more.

4.
