本故事在原案時是試圖以乞丐王子的童話故事配合印加古文明題材來撰寫的嚴肅故事，但在多次修改之后，整部故事卻變成了搞笑電影，說理的部份反而淡掉了。

影片中給國王卡克配音的是美國著名喜劇影星大衛·斯佩德，這位金發藝人出生于密歇根州。八十年代時就已活躍在大學校園的俱樂部和舞臺上，并長期在美國著名電視脫口秀節目《周末夜現場》中擔任角色。八十年代末斯佩德開始涉足影壇，從小角色到大角色逐漸被觀眾接受，從95年至今先后參演過《烏龍兄弟》《神經搭錯線》《至尊狗通緝令》等影片。

該片是迪斯尼的第39部傳統卡通片，和1992年的《阿拉丁》一樣，都沒有被安排在傳統的暑期上映，而是選擇了年底。另外，影片沒有使用靈活的三維技術，背景也是選擇了不夠鮮亮的帆布底色（像《泰山》一樣），大概是為了增添影片的古典情調。當然無論怎樣，相信影片都會有不錯的票房，因為觀眾是從來都不會冷落迪斯尼的。 影片資料
