數學大師柯爾莫哥洛夫是一個高尚、厚道的好人，“不修邊幅的溫厚的君子形象”（伊藤清語）。他不是希爾伯特（柯爾莫哥洛夫非常崇敬）那種緩慢型天才，而是聰敏中的最敏捷的那種。他的學生、Wolf獎得主Sinai：“…his enormous intellectual power and great energy…”。他是一個充滿個人魅力的導師，培養了約70位博士，包括著名的蓋爾方德、西奈、阿諾爾德、Levin（因NP獲圖靈獎；另外快排的發明人、圖靈獎得主Hoare也曾是柯老的聯合培養學生）、 奧布霍夫、莫寧等大師級別的學生，超過20位成了院士。

60年代中期開始（寫完Kolmogorov 買粉絲plexity那篇文章左右），柯爾莫哥洛夫把精力和心血主要貢獻給了數學教育，創辦了著名的柯爾莫哥洛夫中學，親自編寫教材、授課（每周達到26小時），挖掘培養了大批高手，多人已成了院士，解決龐加萊猜想的佩雷爾曼就是這里的畢業生。

記得前幾年看過一本小冊子，丁玖老師在《混沌分形漫談》一書中，把柯爾莫哥洛夫與我國的孔子相比。的確，他們都有若干位偉大的學生，幾十位杰出的學生，成千上萬受其教誨和影響的其他學生，都創辦學校取得了成功。另外還有一點：都有非常強壯的體魄，戰斗力驚人。
