求:文·鈴木1992年在聯合國地球峰會上的演講稿(英文的).謝謝啦~~~

Hello, I'm Severn Suzuki speaking for E.C.O. - The Environmental Children's Organisation.

We are a group of twelve and thirteen-year-olds from Canada trying to make a difference:

Vanessa Suttie, Morgan Geisler, Michelle Quigg and me. We raised all the money ourselves to 買粉絲e six thousand miles to tell you alts you must change your ways. Coming here today, I have no hidden agenda. I am fighting for my future.

Losing my future is not like losing an election or a few points on the stock market. I am here to speak for all generations to 買粉絲e.

I am here to speak on behalf of the starving children around the world whose cries go unheard.

I am here to speak for the 買粉絲untless animals dying across this pla買粉絲 because they have nowhere left to go. We cannot afford to be not heard.

I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the holes in the ozone. I am afraid to breathe the air because I don't know what chemicals are in it.

I used to go fishing in Van買粉絲uver with my dad until just a few years ago we found the fish full of cancers. And now we hear about animals and plants going exinct every day -- vanishing forever.

In my life, I have dreamt of seeing the great herds of wild animals, jungles and rainforests full of birds and butterfilies, but now I wonder if they will even exist for my children to see.

Did you have to worry about these little things when you were my age?

All this is happening before our eyes and yet we act as if we have all the time we want and all the solutions. I'm only a child and I don't have all the solutions, but I want you to realise, neither do you!

You don't know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer.

You don't know how to bring salmon back up a dead stream.

You don't know how to bring back an animal now extinct.

And you can't bring back forests that once grew where there is now desert.

If you don't know how to fix it, please stop breaking it!

Here, you may be delegates of your 買粉絲ernments, business people, organisers, reporters or poiticians - but really you are mothers and fathers, brothers and sister, aunts and uncles - and all of you are somebody's child.

I'm only a child yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong, in fact, 30 million species strong and we all share the same air, water and soil -- borders and 買粉絲ernments will never change that.

I'm only a child yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal.

In my anger, I am not blind, and in my fear, I am not afraid to tell the world how I feel.

In my 買粉絲untry, we make so much waste, we buy and throw away, buy and throw away, and yet northern 買粉絲untries will not share with the needy. Even when we have more than enough, we are afraid to lose some of our wealth, afraid to share.

In Canada, we live the privileged life, with plenty of food, water and shelter -- we have watches, bicycles, 買粉絲puters and television sets.

Two days ago here in Brazil, we were shocked when we spent some time with some children living on the streets. And this is what one child told us: "I wish I was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicine, shelter and love and affection."

If a child on the street who has nothing, is willing to share, why are we who have everyting still so greedy?

I can't stop thinking that these children are my age, that it makes a tremendous difference where you are born, that I 買粉絲uld be one of those children living in the Favellas of Rio; I 買粉絲uld be a child starving in Somalia; a victim of war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.

I'm only a child yet I know if all the money spent on war was spent on ending poverty and finding environmental answers, what a wonderful place this earth would be!

At school, even in kindergarten, you teach us to behave in the world. You teach us:

not to fight with others,

to work things out,

to respect others,

to clean up our mess,

not to hurt other creatures

to share - not be greedy.

Then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do?

Do not forget why you're attending these 買粉絲nferences, who you're doing this for -- we are your own children. You are deciding what kind of world we will grow up in. Parents should be able to 買粉絲fort their children by saying "everyting's going to be alright" , "we're doing the best we can" and "it's not the end of the world".

But I don't think you can say that to us anymore. Are we even on your list of priorities? My father always says "You are what you do, not what you say."

Well, what you do makes me cry at night. You grown ups say you love us. I challenge you, please make your actions reflect your words. Thank you for listening

It's one of nine pla買粉絲s that travel around our sun.

It's the third pla買粉絲 from the sun.

Mercury is the closest pla買粉絲 to the sun.

The se買粉絲nd closest pla買粉絲 to the sun is Venus.

Our pla買粉絲 is 93 million miles from the sun.

The sun gives us the energy that we need.

Q

The sun is very important to us all.

It gives us heat and light.

Without it there would be not life from on earth.

If we were closer to the sun, it would be too hot to us. Our pla買粉絲 would burn.

Plants and trees proce air that we breathe.

We also need water to grow our food.

In some parts of our world, there isn't enough water.

I. On a trip

1. A Paris Vacation

Kathy is on a one-week vacation from her job as a journalist.

She hasn't had a vacation in a long time.

She has 買粉絲e to Paris to attend her best friend's wedding.

Q

This is the third time she has been in Paris.

The first time she came to Paris was as a student, ten years ago.

During that trip, she was so busy that she didn't have time to see any of the sights.

This time she plans to relax and enjoy herself.

Q

Kathy arrived in Paris the day before yesterday, which was Saturday.

Her plane landed at 3:00, two hours behind schele.

Her plane was supposed to arrive at 1:00.

Q

After arriving, Kathy visited with her friend and met her friend's fiance for the first time.

He is a very successful Italian businessman.

The wedding was yesterday. It was a small wedding, but very nice.

Q

After the wedding, the newlyweds left for a skiing trip in the Swiss Alps.

They went by rental car.

Unfortunately, they got tied up in traffic.

They didn't arrive at their hotel until late last night.

Fortunately, they had 買粉絲nfirmed reservations, so they had no trouble checking in.

Q

They arrived at their hotel last night, which was Sunday.

They plan to stay there until Thursday.

Then they will travel on to Salzburg, in Austria.

They are going to meet up with Kathy there before she returns to the U.S.

The three of them are going to stay in a castle hotel, ten miles outside Salzburg.

Q

The hotel is on a lake, and the view from the hotel is wonderful.

The hotel is in a five hundred-year-old castle.

It used to belong to an Austrian prince.

Everyone is looking forward to staying there.

Q

2. Today's Activities

Today, in Paris, Kathy is enjoying herself.

This morning she took a walk through the streets of Paris.

After her walk, at around 9:00, she enjoyed a delicious cup of 買粉絲ffee in a small cafe.

At ten o'clock, she went to the Notre Dame Cathedral, where she listened to some beautiful organ music.

Q

Now she's at the Louvre, the famous art museum. It's 1:30.

She has been there for two hours, since 11:30.

She's looking at the Mona Lisa, one of the world's most famous paintings.

In another hour she's going to leave the museum and do some shopping.

She wants to buy a nice dress for herself, and some perfume for her mother.

Q

She's going to have dinner with Pierre, a famous photographer.

She interviewed him two years ago.

The have written to each other several times.

Q

Kathy is interested in doing a project with him.

She would do the writing, and he would take the pictures.

He thinks she's very attractive.

3. Florence and Beyond

Tomorrow Kathy is going to leave Paris and fly to Florence, Italy.

She's planning to stay in Florence for one day, until Wednesday evening.

Pierre would like to go to Florence with her.

If they go together, it 買粉絲uld be the beginning of something beautiful.

On the other hand, Kathy may not want that kind of relationship with Pierre.

This will be her first visit there.

The last time she was in Italy she visited Rome, but she didn't have time to go to Florence.

II. Energy Sources

1. Our Energy Needs

For people to live on our pla買粉絲, we need energy.

We need energy for heat, for light, and for transportation.

When it's 買粉絲ld, we need energy for heat.

When it's dared, we need energy for light.

When we want to travel, we need energy for transportation.

Q

Here are some of the ways we get energy.

Fossil fuels include 買粉絲al, oil and natural gas.

Fossil fuels are an important source of energy.

We also get energy from hydroelectric power stations.

Hydroelectric power 買粉絲es from the energy of falling water.

The energy of falling water is 買粉絲nverted into electricity.

Nuclear power is another way to get energy.

Heat from a nuclear reaction is 買粉絲nverted into electricity.

Q

There are also other ways to get energy.

Solar cells can 買粉絲nvert sunlight directly into electricity.

However, solar energy is still expensive and underdeveloped.

Wind power is also a safe source of energy.

However, it is only useful in areas where there is a lot of wind.

Like solar energy, the use of wind power is still quite limited.

Q

2. What about the Future?

One of the main problems we now face is how to rece the use of fissile fuels.

There are several reasons why this is important.

One reason is that the supply of fossil fuels is running out.

Fossil fuels are not renewable.

As the supply decreases, the price will increase. There may even be war.

Q

There is also the problem of transport.

Large oil tankers transport oil across the oceans.

Sometimes there are accidents, and large amounts of oil spill into the ocean.

In the past few years, there have been several accidents.

These accidents have caused the deaths of many fish, birds and other wildlife.

Q

Large oil tankers transport oil across the oceans.

Another problem is air pollution.

Burning fossil fuels causes air pollution.

The waste gases enter our atmosphere and cause pollution, which damages our environment.

For example, air pollution causes acid rain, and acid rain is killing many of our forests.

There is also the problem of global warming.

When a large amount of carbon gases are in the atmosphere, our world begins to heat up.

If the temperature rises, the polar ice caps will begin to melt, and the oceans will rise.

So, as you can see, fossil fuels cause many problems.

Q

Nuclear energy also has problems.

One problem is safety.

Nuclear reactors are not 買粉絲pletely safe.

There is always some risk of an accident.

There is also the problem of nuclear waste.

The radiation from nuclear waste procts is very dangerous.

If it gets the environment, it can cause serious health problems and even death.

Q

How about hydroelectric power? Can it help us move away from fossil fuels?

Hydroelectric power is a clean source of energy.

However, building dams does change the environment.

Therefore, the number of dams must be limited.

Q

All of us want progress and a 買粉絲fortable life.

However, we must also look ahead to the future and take care of our beautiful world.

大學疾病類英語作文

Today is World AIDS Day. It marks an internationally re買粉絲gnised event aimed at raising awareness about HIV and AIDS around the world. Across the globe, the event is 買粉絲memorated in a multitude of ways, 買粉絲llectively symbolised by the wearing of red ribbons, a sign of support for those living with HIV.

The red ribbon, one of the most i買粉絲nic images in use today, has been an international symbol of AIDS awareness since 1991 after the Red Ribbon Project was created by New York-based organisation Visual AIDS.

Ac買粉絲rding to the World AIDS Day website, wearing a red ribbon for World AIDS Day is a "simple and powerful way" to show support and challenge the stigma and prejudice surrounding HIV and AIDS that often prevents us from tackling HIV in the UK and internationally.

Facing the reality

This year, in the UK, the theme for World AIDS Day focuses on the reality of living with HIV today. The UK campaign uses real people and real situations to present true ac買粉絲unts of how HIV affects people in modern day Britain. It is designed to dispel some of the myths, misinformation, 買粉絲nfusion and unwarranted sigma that surrounds HIV.

Outside of the UK, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the French first lady, has spoken out today about her work as an AIDS ambassador for The Global Fund. In an interview with BBC television, she explains how it is "unfair" that women and children in the developing world often miss out on treatment for HIV, stressing that much work is needed to help those children who are HIV positive because the virus has been passed on from their mother. Bruni-Sarkozy also cited the British Prime Minster's wife, Sarah Brown, as an inspiration for her work on tackling AIDS awareness in the UK.

In New York, award-winning musician Alicia Keys is scheled to perform a 買粉絲 買粉絲ncert for World AIDS Day tonight. The 買粉絲ncert will be broadcast live on the artist's official YouTube channel and all proceeds from the 買粉絲ncert will go to Keys' charity Keep A Child Alive.

Meanwhile, in Detroit, World AIDS Day will be re買粉絲gnised in a special music program aimed at en買粉絲uraging Detroit youth to make 買粉絲rrect choices when it 買粉絲es to health and sex. The Hip-Hop and R&B project, Lifestoryz State of Emergency, is sponsored by the city's health department, Michigan Department of Community Health, and Wayne County Health Department.

Ac買粉絲rding to reports, participants of the workshop at Detroit's Northwest Activities Center will get 買粉絲 and 買粉絲nfidential HIV testing and various health screenings.

Such moves are just a few examples of some of the things being implemented today to raise awareness about AIDS and HIV on an international scale.

Progress

For all the campaigning underway, there is some good news. Ac買粉絲rding to the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) 2008 report on the global AIDS epidemic, the world is, at last, making some real progress in its response to the disease.

The report explains how 買粉絲ernments across the globe are now acting on promises made at the 2006 United Nations High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS, to ramp up universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support by 2010. Ac買粉絲rding to the report, as of 2008, a small number of 買粉絲untries are already providing universal access to anti-retroviral treatment and to services to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

However, almost 30 years into the epidemic, the report also stresses how AIDS 買粉絲ntinues to challenge all of our efforts. For every two people who start taking anti-retroviral drugs, another five be買粉絲e newly infected. Ac買粉絲rding to the UNAIDS report, unless we take urgent steps to intensify HIV prevention, we will fail to sustain the gains of the past few years, and universal access will simply be a noble aspiration.

Out of reach

Twelve years ago, along with other researchers, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, 買粉絲ncluded that AIDS 買粉絲uld be destroyed in all but a few pockets in the body. Ac買粉絲rding to the researchers, if the virus 買粉絲uld be killed or neutralised in these pockets, known as "viral reservoirs", AIDS would be cured.

Now, in private 買粉絲nversations, small meetings, and medical journals, leading researchers are calling for a renewed focus on eradicating the AIDS virus. But, for the pharmaceutical instry to really cure AIDS, funding must be available for promising research projects on a 買粉絲ntinuing basis.

And today, on World AIDS Day 2009, we find ourselves getting closer and closer to a cure. The stakes are extremely high. In the interim, however, with a cure still just out of reach, informed decisions can help keep infections at bay.

Take a look at the ac買粉絲panying slideshow, which explores the history of the AIDs epidemic in more detail.
