微子啟死后，其弟微仲即位，微仲是孔子的十四世祖。六世祖得孔氏，是為孔父嘉。孔父嘉是宋國大夫，曾為大司馬，封地位于宋國栗邑，后來在宮廷內亂中被太宰華督所殺。

孔父嘉子木金父，木金父子祈父，祈父子孔防叔，孔防叔的孫子叔梁紇就是孔子的父親，叔梁紇為避宋國戰亂逃到魯國的陬邑（今山東省曲阜市）定居，其官職為陬邑大夫。

孔子為什么叫Confucius

“Confucius”這個詞最初并不是英文，而是拉丁文。作為當時天主教圣職人員的利瑪竇等耶穌會傳教士，在翻譯中國經典和中國人名、地名并向他們的歐洲同胞進行介紹的時候，使用的自然也就是“教會拉丁語”，孔子的翻譯就來自于這種語言，并被沿用至今。

16 世紀，來自歐洲的天主教耶穌會傳教士，帶著向這個東方大國傳播天主教的使命，踏上明代中國的土地上時。古羅馬時代使用的古典拉丁語在中世紀天主教會那里演變成了“教會拉丁語”，并一直使用到今天。
